Deloitte artificial intelligence robot correctly predicted the outcomes of the 2018 World Cup Final and Semi Final matches! What's more, it also correctly predicted the outcome of nine of a run of 10 matches in the Last 16 and Quarterfinal stage.

Deloitte's use of AI technology to predict World Cup outcomes is a part of its 'Digital Difference' campaign, and our ambition to 'Think, Create and Do' by showing the growing power of AI.

We have been dedicated to digital transformation for the past few years, and our AI robot has advanced from performing simple, repetitive tasks to making accurate predictions using its self-learning ability. It has become a truly intelligent robot.

At the end of the World Cup, Deloitte's AI robot offered satisfying forecasts that shook the world.

Forecast Summary Report

85% - the average accuracy of our predictions for the last 13 days of competition. After unsatisfactory forecasting results in the first days of the World Cup Last 16, the robot quickly re-examined its approach, learnt from the latest data and adjusted its model, increasing average accuracy to 85% in the next 13 days. Out of the 16 knock-out games, the robot successfully predicted 11 match outcomes.

1% - The theoretical probability of an 85% accuracy rate. This means that you would only be lucky enough to reach 85% accuracy if you randomly predicted the same World Cup results 100 times. The result also reflects the great value and huge predictive potential of AI algorithms.

1 million – the number of model evaluations. DAI, the team that worked on the robot, took two weeks to create its innovative Competitive Inter-Force Network algorithm, conducting more than one million model evaluations.
